Rowing in MunichRowing opportunities in the Munich regionFrequently, we recieve mail from people looking for opportunities to go rowing. The ORM doesn't own any boats. Here however, you can read about other clubs in the environs of Munich. There are two places where you can go rowing in the surroundings of Munich. Starnberg LakeThe Starnberg Lake lies in the Southwest of Munich. There are three rowing clubs: In Tutzing, there is the Tutzinger Ruderverein v. 1983, in Starnberg, there are the Münchner Ruder- und Segelverein Bayern (MRSV) and the Münchener Ruderclub v. 1880 (MRC). Those two clubs have boathouses mainly for the mass sports.
The Starnberg Lake, located in great scenery, doesn't offer opportunities as good for the competitive sport as does the Olympic Regatta Course in Oberschleissheim. That's why these two Clubs share a boathouse for raceboats there. OberschleissheimIn the North of Munich, in Oberschleissheim, there has been built a regatta course for the Olympic Games in 1972. It is 2km long and 135m across.
In Oberschleissheim, there are two rowingclubs, the Rudergesellschaft München '72 (RGM) and the Schleissheimer Ruderclub (SRC).
If you want to row elsewhere, please contact the Bayerischer Ruderverband (BRV, in German), or
Deutscher Ruderverband (DRV, in German) or the International Rowing Association (FISA).
